Basia Bulat, she’s Canadian! I love this song, it’s hopeful and upbeat. She’s also giving a concert in Ottawa next weekend, $12 bucks a ticket!

Now, I’ve been a fan of Dragonette for years. I Get Around and Competition still kill me. Gone Too Far, is a bit of a different sound for them but still has that insanely catchy beat and makes you want to go raise a little hell. Enjoy! Oh, and they’re from Toronto too!

i need a library dance-off STAT.

Remember Amy Winehouse? Well she’s a godmother…i know right, great role model. Anyways, Dionne Bromfield is her god-daughter, born in 1996 and fierce. The girl can sing. Sounds like a grown woman coming out of child’s body, figuratively not literally. She’s signed on to Amy Winehouse’ record label Lioness Records and has released some cover songs. I can’t wait till she starts producing original stuff.

So this is Dionne Bromfield doing her version of the Shirelles 1961 song “Mama Said”

Dionne performing live, with Winehouse doing backup vocals…BACKUP…and dancing…

Wanna see Amy and Dionne together? Wait till you see Amy take a swig out of the bottle in the middle…yeah…

So this is the last blond uk singer songwriter I’m posting on for a while. I promise. Laura Marling is awesome. But she always looks/sounds really really depressed. Her performances are pretty low key but I think it adds more emotion to her songs.

Her video for New Romantic is great, artistically speaking. But embedding was disabled so check her out on Jools Holland. She’s wearing a Spice Girls concert t!

If you like her check out her song My Manic and I. Good stuff.

I was procrastinating…surprise! and discovered Ellie Goulding. I have this thing lately with english singer/songwriters. The UK is pretty much offering me an unlimited supply, and well she’s one of them.

Oh and it’s worth it to check out some more stuff from Ellie. The Wolves (Bon Iver cover) *cough KAIT cough*, and Wish I Stayed are particularly good.
